What method to use to declutter?

Most tidying methods advocate a room-by-room or little-by-little approach, which doom you to pick away at your piles of stuff forever. The KonMari Method™ encourages tidying by category – not by location – beginning with clothes, then moving on to books, papers, komono (miscellaneous items), and, finally, sentimental items. Keep only those things that speak to the heart, and discard items that no longer spark joy. Thank them for their service – then let them go.

What are the categories?

The KonMari Method™ advocates sorting in the following order:

1. Clothes

2. Books

3. Paperwork

4. 'Komono' (including kitchen, bathroom, etc)

5. Sentimental items.

But the key element of the order you declutter is to go from easiest to most difficult; if clothes are a hard one for you and books are easier, then start with books.

There are many, but this is one that sticks! See more about the method at: https://konmari.com
